New Leadership at EuPC as of 1st January 2023

PRESS RELEASE - 20th October 2022

As part of the PolyVision Project launched in June 2022, EuPC starts to reorganize its structure in order to prepare the association for the future. EuPC will continue to support and represent the European plastics converting industry in this transition towards a full plastics circular economy.

According to EuPC President Mr. Benoît Hennaut, “an important aspect for the 50.000 SMEs in the plastics converting industry in Europe is that often family-owned businesses do not have the management time to foresee important strategic changes”.

PolyVision will further develop tools and find new ways to assist plastic converting companies in Europe who need advice and guidance in this challenging circular plastics transition.

As a first important step, Mr. Bernard Merkx, has been appointed Managing Director of EuPC by the EuPC Steering Committee. As of 1st January 2023, Mr. Merkx will represent the plastics converting industry in Brussels towards the EU institutions replacing Mr. Alexandre Dangis who has been at the head of EuPC for over 30 years.

Alexandre Dangis will remain Senior Advisor to the EuPC President but engage with other personal circular plastics projects as well.

I am honored to take over this position from Alexandre and to continue to guide the European plastics converting industry in this important circular transition with all of its challenges ahead of us”, said Bernard Merkx.

Bernard Merkx has been working with EuPC as Building & Construction Division Manager since beginning of this year and he has always been very close to all the EuPC activities. Additionally, his background in plastics recycling will certainly help to continue the work done by Alexandre on the circularity of our plastics industry in Europe. We have therefore chosen for continuity at the head of EuPC”, said Benoît Hennaut, EuPC President.
